Re: Why Would You Do That? Never Heard of This
The nitrogen is less temperature sensitive and a larger molecule which will leak less than regular air. I drove up to Lake Arrowhead last weekend and the tire alarm was going off becuase as I drove up in altitude and the temperature was getting cooler, the the tires deflated 8 pounds overall between LA area and Arrowhead. I heard that it is best with the low profile tires and termperature differences.

Nitrogen is much "drier" than air. Especially air that is compressed in well used (and wet) compressors in a shop. Its the water content in a tire that you are trying to control with Nitrogen. A tire with alot of water inside will show relatively large pressure changes with temperature, making setting a proper pressure challenging at best. Keep in mind that sea-level pressure is just over 14lbs/inch squared (a tire inflated to 28lbs is 28 lbs plus ambient) so you never actually "empty" the tire.

Re: Nitrogen for my Tires?
Did you ever get an answer on where you can fill your tires with nitrogen? I have nitrogen in mine, but I bought it like that, guy had his own tank, but I need to know where to go set my pressure with nitrogen. I live near downtown LA.
