Reminds me of an electrician budy in the East bay. He had an 84 Chevy van with a bad ignition switch. Instead of replacing the ignition switch, he mounted a 20 amp single pole light switch on the dash board. True story! Worked fine, and he's not worried, who wants an 84 Chevy van?

A light switch??
I would at least have used a momentary contact push button or maybe one with the flip cover like the proverbial "missile launch button"

Shoulda used a dimmer...
That way you could dial in exactly as much power as you need ;^)
