Re: Fault Electronic thermostat control final stage
Yup, your thermostat is electronic and is a relatively common problem. It won't affect your driving or engine but it will keep throwing the "check engine" light on ocassionaly. I asked my parts guy at the dealer and he told me this is a very common problem, actually a TSB on it i believe. If you replace the thermpostat it should be fine.

Re: Fault Electronic thermostat control final stage
The electronic sensor on my t-stat went bad, causing a bad ground that took out the fuel pump, DME computer and EGS (transmission) computer. Needless to say this became a very expensive repair and caused the engine to not start. Do not delay getting this fixed!Kyle.

V12 thermostat: how-to advice?
My 2000 750iL is giving an 8b code on my PEAKE tool (electronic thermostat control final stage). When I clear the code, the light comes back the 2nd time I start up thereafter (not the first time, the second. I also get Fd, which apparently refers to the aux fan).
Anyway, I want to replace the thermostat but I haven't been able to find a write-up on the thermostat for the V12. Has anyone managed to replace the thermostat by itself, without removing the water pump and a lot of other components?
Thanks for any advice.
GD
