Re: airbag light
I had exactly the same happen to me a while back airbag light just came on for no reason. I decided to wait until the car went into BMW for a service. I was told the seat belt sensor was faulty and that it needed replacing @ a cost of £90.
The car was in for a inspection II so I was already looking at a bill of £500 and decided against having the repair as I was told it would not stop my airbags functioning in a accident. I planned to fix it later and spread the costs.
When I picked the car up BMW had reset the airbag light and it has never come back on since (excluding startup when it is supposed to) that was 16k miles ago.
My advice would be to leave it until the car is serviced that way you will not have to pay extra for code / fault reading.
