    1973 BMW 3.0 cs chassis zz40513---pics

I am new here and am considering the purchase of rust free, cherry E9, looks to have a nice repaint, under-coated chassis, a California car with no visible signs of rust at shock towers, rocker panels, etc., and very minimal surfae rust on the inner wheel wells directly behind the tires, etc. With the exception of the steering wheel, radio? and some speakers on the rear parcel shelf every thing else looks to be original and near perfect. Also the car appears to be slightly lowered, not sure about brand of springs, shocks, and struts (covered with undercoating spray.) Odometer shows 30,000 miles. Is there anyway to trace its lineage? CARFAX doesn't work, and while the oral history of the car sounds legitimate I would feel more comfortable if there was a way to confirm the history presented. Any help would be appreciated, as a school teacher the $18000 asking price is a good chunk of change. I stumbled across this car after I sold all of my fun cars (6er's) to buy an M6, only to have the M6 sell two days before I raised the asking price : (
It is a beauty but $5000 more than I was ready to spend. Is it worth it? The following pics do not do the car justice. It is much nicer in person, it is pristine and the motor purrs. The color is more of a bluish silver, is this the correct color to match the cars identification of "Fjord"?<br><br><img src="http://us.a1.yahoofs.com/users/432f856czcde0630b/be8f/__sr_/ced9scd.jpg?phYvG3DBuVtlkzaP"><br><br>img src="http://us.a1.yahoofs.com/users/432f856czcde0630b/be8f/__sr_/c29escd.jpg?phYvG3DBEGym1Vma"><br><br>img src="http://us.a1.yahoofs.com/users/432f856czcde0630b/be8f/__sr_/64adscd.jpg?phYvG3DBN5iB4VHN"><br><br>img src="http://us.a1.yahoofs.com/users/432f856czcde0630b/be8f/__sr_/55a3scd.jpg?phYvG3DBHzKL_FI6">

Looks like "Fjord". Where are you and where is the car located? It might be best to have it checked out by someone that knows E9s. The 30K mileage seems suspect for a car more than 33 years old. The adage about "buying the best example you can possibly find/afford" really holds true for E9s.

i tend to agree with the other postings.........having a "coupe" knowlegable enthusiast or shop look the car over is money well spent.
as for price...$5000 is actully very low for a clean coupe.........here on the west coast they tend to run double that.....

You misunderstood: the seller is asking $18K which is $5K more than this prospective buyer was planning to spend.
