    B2 Piston Removal?

I am just trying to narrow this transmission problem down. I have been reading the archives trying to see if it is the B2 piston that is causing me problems. Here is what is going on with my car. By the way, it is a 1981 380 SEL. I bought this car in San Fransisco. The had been driving the car as a stick shift saying that first gear was slipping. Well, I drove it all the way back to my house, about a 3 hour drive and the forward gears would not work. Reverse worked though. All the other gears were fine, just 1st gear had the problem. I was going to get the tranny rebuilt but I am hearing that it might be something as simple as this piston. Does anyone have any more insight on this? Thanks.

B2 Piston Removal ? could be, or .............?

trans pressure testing is next !
    pump pressure
    modulator pressure
    govener pressure

these three are the first to test when
    diagnosing any shifting ailments.

you could have a jammed govener

    low working pressure

a valve body fouled with 'green' stale
    burned old trans oil

a clogged filter....... pressure tests , oil and filter
    change first.

if the oil is black and 'BURNT' smelling - order a rebuilt trans now

I will check those this weekend. Haven't really had the time during the week. Thanks for the extra stuff to look out for. I bought a repair manual, but it makes no mention of the B2 piston or its whereabouts. Hopefully it is something simple. If not, I have priced a removal and installation of around 1200.
