Got my valve cover reconditioned this week!

I can't wait to post pics, too! I restored with black powder-coat and had the raised surfaces milled like OEM, but they milled it bi-directionally on each ridge, so they have a prism effect that plays with your eyes. Very cool looking!

Here are a few shots of the valve cover after having gone through two stages of bead-blasting. It's getting it's first dose of powder coat in these pics. You can see the alligator clip that charges the item to the powder sticks.




These shots are after the cover has been almost completely covered with the powder.






Here's a pic after just coming out of the oven for an hour. (Note the mostly shiny texture)




After cooling, I noticed that there were some small imperfections, like finger prints and smudges, so we cooled it and recoated the blank spots. This is a shot after the fist bake, before I noticed the flaw.




These two are after the final bake when the piece was around 130-degrees.





Finally, here we have the finished product with the prism effect clearly visible.







It's too bad I can't post this properly, but you'll get the idea if you don't mind a little work.

I'm really happy with the end result even though it's not what I expected, and you can still see some of the marks from the arbor, if that's the right term.
