Re: how to switch from Fahrenheit to Celsius?

My car has the NAV option. I have to press Menu, and then select "Set". Then, I can choose lots of different look and feel items. I have the temperature reading in Celcius, the clock at 24 hours, etc.

If you have the MID, I can only suggest that you RTFM, as the saying goes (Read The Fine Manual, I think is what it means).

If you have your car's VIN, you can go to bmwusa.com and enroll in the Owner's Circle. If you do, you will be able to download an Owner's Manual in PDF (Adobe Acrobat Reader) format. This is nice, because you can search for items like these quickly and easily.

Are you saying that it was previously in F and now after the battery was changed the readout changed to C?

If so, see your dealer and have them reset it.

Items like language, and temperature scale is normally tied to defaults associated with the the country code - which is set in the instrument cluster at the factory.
But they are able to be changed - dealers needs to reset options via the DIS system.

There is no way you can do this yourself that I know of - this is not part of the items that you access in the cluster test/readout mode.

I believe the original poster is correct.. I remember having to look it up in the owners handbook after I accidently changed it. I believe you press one of the MID buttons and turn on the ignition.

    It's in the owners manual..

    Just do as follows:
press the trip meter reset button (the button that changes the display) while the key is in position 1 and hold it there then switch the key to the 0 position while you are holding the button. Now turn the switch back on you should find the screen switched....
