holy freak accident!
at the track today some dude in an EVO managed to lose it coming out of a slow corner and somehow managed to go across the track twice and slam into two staged cars waiting to enter the track. No serious bodily injuries but looked like a dead EVO, NSX and G35 coupe.
The incomprehensible thing is that the corner where the driver lost it is not very fast and there should have been no reason it the world for him to get as far as he did down the straight...I still can't believe it could have happened, it's like he never ever lifted.
Weird

true, and I guess a lesson in imagining the
because for the life of me I cannot imagine how this accident could have ever happened. As I said it was out of a slow corner...50mph I would guess... he probably hit at over 40 mph about 300 yards after the corner after apparently running off the track twice and spinning...in a bone dry day. I think he thought he was Colin McRae and he was going to save it because he must have never lifted at all.
For sure the cars are never going to be staged there again.
This was on the East course at Pocono Raceway.

Those things get REAL light in the front end
under acceleration. It's almost scary!
Friend just got a new one - chipped it, slapped on a new exhaust and fuel pump. For less than $2500 of goodies the damn things puts down 350hp and 348 lb/ft torque. It'll pull on a stock E46 - probably a modified one.
I blew an 04 M3 Coupe engine. Where's my 100k engine warranty? Buy my Sirius receiver for Nav or my iceLink for Sirius & Nav. How about a StealthOne? RRT brake ducts? M3 trunk mat? All like new.

This is why I don't do HPDEs
I swear, HPDEs are a LOT more dangerous than races.
1) Why were those cars parked where a car on track could easily reach them?
2) Why did the driver of the car with the camera pull over where HE could also be hit?
Yes, accidents happen. But putting cars or people in the line of fire of errant cars on track ... I would have never run in that event. I would certainly never have parked my car in that line. I've seen too many things happen.
