Re: E31s are beautiful!
I use mine as a daily driver so I cheated and got the V8 for gas purposes (that decision is paying off now!). E31s have the rep as being hard to maintain, but incredible support on roadfly's E31 forum, so much of the work can be DIY to keep the costs down if you choose. Since the car has the same engine as the 7 series...it is not totally unfamiliar to shops for fixing. Parts still pretty easy to come by also.
Cars were from 1991 to 1997...roughly 6000 were brought to the states during those years. Pretty rare and unique styling so the car often turns heads and is still mistaken for a new car/style.

Re: E31s are beautiful!
The E31 had the same effect on me when I first saw it as when I see a beautiful woman walking across the room at a party. Early 90s were not the haydays for automotive styling, but "wow" was the first word that came to my mind when I first saw it at the BMW dealership down the road from my house.
Yeah, the V-12s with today's premium gas prices...ha!
