    BMW X-5 Bluetooth

I have just received my 700p from Verizon on May 30. 2006, it paired
great but now I have a orange light on all the time on my Nav system.
I know what the red does and the green does, and have contacted three
dealers who have no idea what it does. I reconnect my Treo 650 and
the orange light is off and all work great. The only explanation I can come up with is the Treo 650 uses bluetooth 1.0 and the Treo 700p uses bluetooth 1.2. The problem I have had is trying to hang up with the steering wheel controls when I make a call. The BMW assist
is working on my BMW 2005 X-5 4.4 so it must be that BMW still has not upgraded to bluetooth 1.2, and later this year bluetooth 2.0 will be released to speed up file transfer between PC's and Treo.
Anyone having any info about updates or an idea about the orange light please let me know. Thanks.

When I upgraded my phone from a V710 to E815

the orange light started blinking, other times it was off. What I discovered was that when I'm in the new "EV" mode of the phone, the light is off. When I'm in 1X mode, the light blinks -- so depending upon what mode the phone is in, that's when the light kicks in. On my 2002 X5 (I have a 2006 now) with my old CPT8000 phone, the orange indicator would come on when I was roaming.

Re: When I upgraded my phone from a V710 to E815

The new phones and new account numbers are being changed over to a cell phone roam and a data roaming, from EVDO and 1X. This is a constant search roam and is effecting bluetooth in BMW and other auto brand along with headsets. BMW is unaware of this problem which I have explained to no avail, I can't get through to techs who need to hear this, and the same with Verizon. We're on our own.
