I send out my request (Thread) asking all adventurous BMW drivers/owners of the 6 Series and 5 Series (Sport) to join me(GMAN), Cobradav, and others on a drive you will never forget.

Let's quickly re-cap: The Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap comes with 318 curves in 11 miles and promises to take your breath away as we test our limits and sharpen our nerves on the curves...

Gosh, I'd do it, but I can see right now that I'd be going around one of those curves and either one of those crazy motorcyclists or another auto will be drifting wide in the oncoming lane and ...
I'll take it to the track instead.

Clearly you are correct. It's the risk we take everyday (Someone taking turns too wide and...) All I can say is thank GOD for your drving skills and the aids of BMW.

Hey, I have run track and no there are no on coming drivers but you do have to contend with garter rails, etc... It's all the same but I hear ya!

You should really consider coming out and having some fun. NO CRAZY drivig (That's our MO) going in. We will take a casual run to get to know the road better and we have been told that early mornings are free of Bikers, it's the afternoons you have to worry about!

Anyway, enough talk, consider it seriously and let me know ASAP.

You mean to tell me that no one here wants to join a few driving enthusiats on a road trip call the Tail of The Dragon?

I offer a change of the date if the Sept. 28, 2006 doesn't work for you but still no response...

C'mon guys what do you say? You wanna ride or do you want to stay on cyber land and talk about issues, and the dream of driving your cars to places that you read in a magazine.

Anyway, whatever you choose is your choice of course but it would surely be nice to have fleet/caravan of 6er cruisin' the Tail of The Dragon...

TOD has web site. They keep us up on what/who is doing where. And we are not going to go crazy, can't as it will probably be pretty busy, although we are doing the run on a Friday.

As long as the dates don't change, I'll be going with my M6 and the wife. Not sure about the Biltmore yet. Cheapest room is $1200+. I may stay somewhere else and spend the difference at the Cherokee casino. The Dragon has some serious grin factor. I ran it with my son's JCW Mini S. I didn't atke it easy. We wore out a set of brakes and tires in one day.

I hope you are referring to the NEW dates of 12-15 Oct as we had to come off the 9/28-10/1 date.

Glad to have an experienced TOP cruiser along. Just saw a young lad in supermarket with TOD t-shirt. Asked if he did the run, he said "dad did it on his bike." Dates pretty well cast as the three instigators all have reservations now. Plenty of B&Bs available at all prices close to the Biltmore. Still working on the Saturday run with spouses/gf. My wife hates repeats so she knocked out a few of my ideas. Looks like 2 M6s with M6Opusx and u.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is nearby. Plenty of great sections to run. If we head up to Boone we can also throw the shoppers in the group a bone. There is an Outlet Mall in the Mountains.

Yes it is but the dates are not as in the title. Actual dates are Oct 12-15. Right now about 18 confirmed although not for every day. If is not too clear. We run TOD on Friday with an early start in the AM and out all day. Then a calmer more scenic drive on Saturday intended to please our non-fast riding significant others (oh do we have those). Sunday depart for our respective homes which range from Florida to Canada. The drive routes are pretty much fianlized and we are putting together the packages for the attendees and these should be out soon.

Some staying all three nights (12, 13 and 14). Rooms getting harder to come by but certainly not too hard right now.
