perhaps sir, you are an idiot. first a viper is a nice car if you dont count the steering like a dumpster factor and also exclude the fact that they are rattle traps. is it possible that while YOU were at the track, compensating for your tiny endowments, the driver of the m5 was not experienced? first the m5 has 383/520@6100 rpms idiot. second the weight ratio is 52.2 to 47.8 compared to the vipers 60.1 to 39.9. seems to me the viper is a front heavy turd? simply put the m5 is a vehicle that can be driven all year round and can be a daily driver while simultaneously making viper owners post rediculous blogs on bmw forums. lastly the m5 is formula bred. BMW started making vehicles that were track quaility when texaco ( chevron) gave BMW money to race. there began the "M" ( motorsport ) division. since BMW is a major player in formula 1 racing and the s85 engine in the e60 m5 is derived directly from lessons learned from formula racing. the engine is made after the P84/5 engine which is in BMWs formula car. the engine requires nearly 100 hours assembly time and is blueprinted from about 50,000 parts. the m5 uses an alusil crackcase and has a forged steel nitro-carburized crank for strength. what this means is that while your over priced dodge is experiencing engine failure, the m5 still has plenty of life left. ever see a viper with over 100,000 miles? me either. post your incoherent redneck " fact " racing info somewhere else. preferably somewhere where no one has any knowledge about how automobilies werk.

They'll get beat down by guys in much lower horsepower cars.

Here in Hoosier land, the BMW club helped the viper club put on one of their first driving events. The FIRST SESSION had 13 cars off the track. We had to put the Viper drivers into our cars and drive them around the track, and even with 1000 extra pounds (most of the guys were over 200lbs) and 200 LESS hp we could easily out pace the vipers....or more correctly the guys driving the vipers...After figuratively knocking their male members in the dirt they finally listened to us.

The basic problem is two fold. 1. The people attracted to vipers are usually successful entrepreneurs without a college education and are kind of aggressive go getters. 2. With all the HP and torque, the viper must be driven with finesse and subtlety. A quality Viper drivers don't posses.

So, more or less the viper drivers school becomes this slow conga line around the track until the main straight where they all want to drag race to turn 1 and then do it all over again.

To be fair, I do know a couple of guys that drive Vipers really well.
and driven well a viper is awfully hard to beat at the track.
