Anyone want to run their car @ NE Dragway?
After many requests for timeslips and street races, I've decided to run my 540 at NE Dragway to see what she can do in the quarter mile. I don't plan on smoking my clutch to eek out that last 10th, I just want to get a ballpark number and a timeslip to back it up. They have run what you brung nights (now called Street Night's) on Wednesdays and Fridays.
I haven't been up there since the late 80's when it seemed like every Grand National ever made was up there running. They have some new rules to abide by :
Street Night Rules which I'm fine with since my car is just your average, run of the mill, everyday, basic, four door, daily commuter. I have a helmet but no slicks or open exhaust.
Is anyone interested in meeting up, here or there, and running their cars? You could even come just for the meet and not run your car. Heck, you could be my pit crew if you'd like. Running for Pink Slips is totally optional.
So any one interested?

Vin, I see this forum is real active (m)
I just popped over here to see what's going on. The E39 board is slow, but this is dead.
When are you going? Think I'll need to dig my chute out so I'll be legal, LOL.
I don't have a helmet, do they rent them? I haven't been up there since the 70's, ran my Chevelle up there then.
Don't think I can go for a few weeks, when does street night stop for the season?

It is now, we just need to post more.
I was going to send you an email directly Jim and was wondering if this should be a 5's event. There are about 15 more street nights with the last chance on Friday October 27. I was thinking after Labor day.
Here's the Schedule
Helmets have to have a snell 95 or newer certification (no old football helmets). I don't think they rent them but I'll ask. I bought a full face for the track days last year. They mentioned proper bottle heaters and purge valves in the rules about NOS so check them out so the bottle rocket complies. You and I need to line em up soon.

Beantown 5's....sure let's round them up! (m)
I think I can bum a helmet from my neighbor for the drags. I spent most of today helping him get a $50 heap (1988 Jetta) ready for the Marshfield Fair double figure 8 demolition derby. Runs all this week.
This board is so slow maybe I'll post a few pics here, don't think that many will mind, might get a few more people to post here.
I looked at the rules that were posted on New England Dragway site, not too much about juice. I don't have a purge valve, does that mean I'm OK. What was posted about purging valves seemed to only refer to motorcycles.
Anybody know where I can find the complete rule book?

OK , looks like it's on for Wed. 10/11
Anybody else that wants to race or even if you just like to watch (not that there's anything wrong with that) just pipe up now and we'll get a headcount.
