While selling mine, lots of motors need bodies>
Too bad mine also turned out to be pretty rotten (rear floors, rear bumper mounts almost falling off, rockers under side skirts were bad...). I'm glad it was sold for parts. Definitely a learning experience. Next time I buy one, I'll definitely know what to look for. The only problem is that the bad ones are quickly getting weeded out which is going to drive up prices of good ones.

Re: So how many M5's did we lose this summer?
Drunk driver dropped a Chevy Malibu on my hood. Weird impact (kind of skipped off the hood, so it wasn't a direct impact, but it did in the front end, and cost of repair was excessive for AAA ($12K). Accident in Sept. Bought the car back and am now trying to figure out what to do with it. Couldn't stand the idea of it going to the junkyard. Would post a picture, but can't quite figure out how to do it here .... (Now driving a 740 Sport with airbags (lots of airbags)... Pete (in Bay Area)

Re: So how many M5's did we lose this summer?
Yep - would be a great donor car. Kinda hoping a straight e28 M5 project car pops up on Craigslist). Anyone blow an engine lately? (On the other hand, domestic bliss would suffer dramatically - too many projects underway.) Engine has 209K on it - but according to Bav Pro in Berkeley compression was still great (and I had just replaced the self-leveling system w/ Bilst. and ST springs, taken care of issues with front end, put in new drive shaft, etc. etc. ... getting depressed just thinking about it...) Interior is in great shape (except for driver's seat bolster...) Just want to make sure it doesn't end up in the crusher ...
