    What is that switch?

    Hi,

on my 528e E28 I have a switch next to the steering column, opposite side from the light switches, but a little further down (middle of the lower panel that sits under the steering column. I don't know what this switch does, nothing seems to happen when I press it (when it's "out" it has a red band). I don't have my owner's manual, and I couldn't find any references in the Bentley manual.

    Thanks,
    /Hakan

    Re: not sure?

    Dan,

I already have a Window lockout switch next to the window controls, next to the gear selector. The switch I'm looking for is below the steering wheel, on the panel below it.

    It's a circuit breaker.

The switch is the circuit breaker for the electric windows. When the red is visible it renders the electric windows inoperative. It will "trip" if something causes one of the electric window motors to overload.
