    sluggish acceleration

Hello all needed some input. I have a 2004 645 automatic i believe CIP 20 and have noticed often during attempted quick accelerations from a complete stop that the car begins very sluggish and almost feels as though it is getting too much gas before it actually kicks in and takes off. It is actually pretty annoying and even pretty embarasing when trying to impress the ladies. Any thoughts?

Is this a change you have noticed in performance from a time it was better or is this car new to you and this is what you get all the time you have had it?

    Re: sluggish acceleration

Thanks for the responses. I bought this car in April CPO, I have noticed it happening several times, usually firt acceleration after starting the car, but not all the time. I do not notice a flashing of the dtc light when it is happening.

Thanks again any insight is appreciated.

    Re: sluggish acceleration

Idle seems find. I dont really notice any issues with a rough idle. Most of the time it seems to run like a charm. It almost seems like clogged fuel filter or stuck fuel injector. I am not a mechanic in any way but have had issues like this with less sophisticated cars and always seemed to be fuel delivery related.

Nothing jumps out as a previously reported problem. Best to get to the dealer and hope that you can replicate problem there. Could see possible ECU issue, sensor issue (such as O2), fuel delivery issue as you state, EGS (tranny control) or even engine hardware. Hope you get it sorted out.

    Monty:

Did you ever get this issue resolved? I have same issue with my '04 645. It usually occurs after a cold start as I leave my house each morning. Sluggish throttle response, followed by rapid acceleration. I'm taking my car in for service on some other issues this week and would appreciate knowing whether your issue was diagnosed/resolved.
