1997 528i cold start rough idle

    Hello everyone,
My girlfriend recently bought a 1997 528i and inherited a rough cold start idle. I have cleaned the ICV, throttle body, and used some BG44K to help clean the injectors, but it is still there. I have wondered if the TPS is out of adjustment down at the bottom of travel since if you apply a little throttle pressure upon startup and hold it so the startup idle is a little higher for 10 sec or so then the true idle smooths out so that the car doesn't stumble or stall.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks, Seth

The most common cause of a rough idle is a small intake leak or failing CCV (which is an intake leak). And if it happens on a cold start the chances of it being due to an intake leak are even higher. Jim Levie, Huntsville, AL
