Waiting list for M6 convertible, what a joke
I was 22 on the list in Central Florida for M6 coupe and conv. Now I know why dealer did require deposit, the list is a joke. I am guessing you have to be VIP for the dealer to get a M6 conv, I drive a Z4 now (my first and last BMW unless I move out of Central FL)

Check Hendrick BMW in Charlotte NC. They had 2 or 3 convert. Last week and a coupe. All were black or silver as I recall. They have been there for at least 3 or 4 weeks. You can go th their website and check the M inventory. Dont expect any deals from them. Bring your big checkbook. You will not be kissed afterward.

Re: Waiting list for M6 convertible, what a joke
We walked into our dealer in Bay Area on 12/17 said we wanted M6 convertible and drove off in a new Indianapolis red, black top and Sepang interior, which you cannot order now and actually got a discount off MSRP. We must have been pretty lucky from the sound of it.

Re: Waiting list for M6 convertible, what a joke
Read posts with interest and a bit of amusement. The high-end car market, even for very limited production cars except perhaps for F430's, is not neary as tight as certain dealers would have us believe. Just be a little patient and you are likely to find or order exactly what you want from a legitimate dealer. I learned this the hard way a couple of years ago with a CL55 that I had ordered much earlir only to find shortly after delivery that MB flooded the US market with them. They are now, together with the SL55 Kompressors good values in the after market. I have heard of two M6 coupes for sale in the Boston area for the past few months by owners who just cannot live with the SMG. Oh yes, the other thing about high-end cars on the secondary market is that there tend to be very few potential buyers, depressing prices further. Make a low bid and you might be surprised.

Re: Waiting list for M6 convertible, what a joke
Don't take Andrews advice, you will not get a discount on an M6 anywhere in the U.S. There are very few of these and many dealers do have a list to get one. Dealers are also getting bombarded by brokers willing to pay sticker so they can sell them over sticker to their customers. The people that are selling them used bought them to try and make a profit. The SMG is absolutely incredible in this vehicle, the only people that do not like it are those that do not know how to use it.

A predictable comment from a dealer. That is ..
what they said 4 years ago when I bought my 03 CL55 for $124,000, which a year later were routinely selling in the low $90's or less with very few miles on them. I sold mine in Sept 05 for a lot less and it was perfect with 12k miles. Perhaps BMW is wiser that MB and is truly limiting production of the M6 convertible. I hoe that they are. Obviously if one simply cannot wait, then pay up by all means. Of course that is what the dealer's bank on on these cars, but a more realistic approach suggests paitence. As for the SMG, it is a matter of opinion and I would say that the individual from Peoria is certainly entitled to his. It may well be that only a chosen few realy "know" how to use the SMG and that the great unwashed just do not get it. As I said, there are two M6's in this area with very low mileage on the block in trade for 997 TT's primarily because of the SMG. FWIW, I opted for the 06 650i conv and more recently added an 07 Audi RS4 rather than get the M6 conv. Had nothing to do with cost, just my preference for real world driving. Both are terrrific cars, as I am sure that the M6 is.
