    Pedal Switch?

The brake lights are activated by a push button style switch on the pedal bracket. When you're off the brakes, the arm on the brake pedal depresses the switch. When you get on the brakes, the button on the switch pops out and the brake lights go on. Perhaps the brake switch on the pedal bracket is stuck?<img src="http://home.comcast.net/~wong.andrew/pics/sig.JPG">
