    Ignition switch broken/sticking

Just wanted to pass this on for those with broken ignition switches (sticking, not returning). I bought the electrical ignition switch part for $39 online for my 99 boxster. The procedure is really easy and takes about 15 minutes. Not sure how many times the actual metal housing breaks, seems like the plastic electrical part would be the weak link on most cars.

Slide under the steering wheel and pull off the heater duct (no screws). Pull the ignition wire connector off the ignition switch. There are 2 tiny, tiny flat head screws that hold the electrical switch in place. There was some red thread locker that needs to be scraped off. Apply pressure and turn the screws. Do not take screws all the way out! Make sure you don't strip the screws! Pull the old switch out, put new one in place, tighten screws, put electrical connector back on, snap heater duct tube in place. Go start your car.

the key on my 01 S gets stuck and will not turn unless car rolls about a foot. Was this the type of problem you were having?

    No.

The key turns when you start the car but does not return to the left. You have to turn it back a little by hand. If you do not, you get all the weird electrical things, like the wipers not working, etc.

Not sure what your issue is all about.

    Sorry
