how and where do you install an oil cooler?

I have a oil temp gauge and it reads about the same temp as the water temp gauge with normal driving. I took the car to the track and the oil temp went to 300 THAT'S HOT. I would like to solve that problem. Thanks for the help. Wayne

they are usually mounted to the front of the regular radiator (usually after an upgrade to an E21 radiator. I have also seen them mounted behind the driver's side headlight - usually requires some cutting of sheet metal.

Actually 300 degrees for oil is not normally harmful most oils are safe to over 350 and synthetics are way on up there.ClydeG R 2 4

no - kits are available from many sources ie. Ray Korman's. Earl's Plumbing, any 02 parts house involved with racing. It's a simple
filter housing replacement, and mounting of cooler and routing of hoses.

I believfe you can use an s14 oil filter head on an '02 engine. It is tapped for oil cooler lines.
