    Slightly Diesel

Let's see my story begins like this......Check coolant led to broken Radiator neck....

Parts replaced; radiator, thermostat, water pump, belts, tensioner, idler pulley. Car drives fine for about a week then..

Next Nightmare.....tapping sound begins, oil is flushed and quiets for about one day....Quess what? Tapping sound is back and loud as ever. Indie shop says probably lifters....32 lifters and a chunck full of money and still chatters like false teeth in the winter.

Suggestions anyone...Short of a total rebuild or new engine what are my options??????/////

yes, look up VANOS, you were changing wrong things, the VANOS system has to be changed. I had mine changed by the dealer on my 2000 M5 at about 17k miles. I had the same knocking noise.
