Concept CS = new 8 series

after 2009 aug 31 they will have no trouble naming the 4 door coupe/sedan calling 8 series. The E31 will be 20 y/o and most people don't even remember it anyway :-(
The 8-CS will be an expensive car for sure so in about 6 years from 2009 when it will be released I might have a chance to get one. this makes it 2015 when I will be 45y/o with an 12 y/o daughter. Just in time for a large family sedan... I just wanted to say that I LIKE the CS concept. It is a concept so the lines and gimmicks will dissapear but this is by far the best looking car the Bungle team drew up. clean lines no concave and convex shapes, a mini bungle butt and finally an interior that somewhat sporty and driver oriented. apart from the bungle shapes the new cars have ugly dashboards. They remind me of Lincoln and Cadillac.
so BMW CS here I come - in 2015 or so...

finally departing from the Bungle butts and lincolcontinentalstyle-dashboard. the dash is driver oriented, there are buttons and knobs on it and the tail is something any manufacturer would be proud.
looks better then the Jaguar 4-door coupe project but that is also excellent. Jag will be lot less expensive and coming next year while BMW will not be releasing the real model till 2009 or 2010
But a big step in a good direction ! a first new BMW I like in a past 7-8 years !

I saw an X6 a few days ago in Spartanburg. Well, i don't know what is it really supposed to be - tall wagon a low suv a small suv or a large sav/van/x-over or what ? camouflaged but could see that the back is shaped down almost coupe like versus x3 and x5 boxes.

I also drove the new x5 v8 and all the bells whistles and although good and impressive for the money it is overkill. if I have 70 large there are many more cars to choose from. I would NOT spend 70 grand on an X5. overpriced and overweight !

also note that the videos never shows a particular perspective but for a second or two... imnsho nothing to be really proud of for the $$ they must have spent.

My sentiments exactly. I am really looking forward to the production version. Marilyn really likes it and possibly wants one (If somewhat affordable in a few years after). She especially digs the retro yet somewhat organic interior and says that it is very possibly designed by a woman. LOL.<html>

that car isn't bad looking either. also copy of the MB CLS but a little more down to earth shapes and prices. coming next year !

is that it has to be AWD. That is why we did not get the S-Type to begin with. Now she is looking at an X3 or the Saab 9-7x. Don't ask me....LOL. She says she needs the room with the new baby and stuff.<html>

Trailblazer which is not the best truck out there. there is a really god GM platform I forgot the names but GMC and Saturn version exists too, Buick is coming with that as well. Now that is awesome compare to the Trailblazer. The Saab was a really heavily revised Trailblazer but you can only do so much on a platform.
Volvo xc90 is a much better if you want to swedish.

winter and off-road vehicle (I have a second home in shawsville, VA in the middle of nowhere with unpaved mountain roads).

I share your sentiments about the X and the Saab and wanted to steer her to an Audi Q7 4.2 or the Volvo XC90. But she thinks those are not visually pleasing. She wished Jaguar made an SUV but hates Land/Range Rovers. She is very petite so she does not want something huge either.

How is the Mazda so far?<html>

for the money imho. I love it. I got the Touring AWD for $32.900 incl bose audio, roof rack, extra carpet for te trunk, sunroof (comes with bose) and factory trailer hitch which comes with engine/trans oil cooler and different engine management. Tramsmission holds the gears longer if you have a trailer behind you.
It is blue with black interior and everything what I wanted and wife wanted. She loves it. I just bought a factory nav kit for it on the bay for a lot less then the dealer cost (1800)

I also got the 20" wheels off of a Grand Touring model (the donor truck had less then 500 miles when owner went to a 24")

I have not put it on but the factory oem wheels are 18" originally.
truck is very stable and very good to drive. The only complaint that a 6spd manual truck with a 3.5l engine should have a little better gas mileage. Mazda states 17-21mpg but my average is around 16-17 so it is lower then stated. Transmission is smooth and one of the best auto tranny I have ever seen. shifting is always good and perfect, no hesitation, always in a good gear. You can also shift is manually and it is reverese - upshift is down-pull and downshift is up-push but BMW does the same now. All E90 and E60 automatic uses the same pattern which is the opposite of the normal pattern - upshift - up, downshift - down.

The trunk is large enough and 7 passenger fits confortable, even smallish adults are ok in the rear seat section. Trunk space is modest at the best with 7 passenger but there is space and underfloor storage.

The only other complaint is there is no tire pressure sensor for the truck from Mazda (I would expect it in a 2007 vehicle)

Some road vibration causes noise with objects in a truck but it is due to the fact that a truck is hard, solid and feels the horrible roads we have here. wait till I put the 20's on ! :-)
same issue with my 8 but my Lexus is buttery smooth on the same roads.

I can go into corners with confidence, brakes are oke (could be better) and it sounds a little weird. I don't like the sound of any Japanese engines and this is no exeption ! plain noise and no exhaust tuning.
There is one interesting thing - the rear suspension is a unique design. The shocks are placed behind the rear axle and pointing in a very steep ange to the rear of the car. This is to control the vehicles fore-aft movements due to the lenght of the car which is over 200"
