Could be because the person wasn't a father, but
rather a mother-f***er...
I guess there are different standards as to who and what gets MOM'ed, but it is usually from people that have absolutely nothing to say at home and are stuck in dead-end jobs - it's all about being an over-frustrated individual.
As for you Father's Day post: I thought nothing wrong with it, but that is just me..
MOM that!

Not sure what the problem was but this is why
we have the OT forum. In my opnion your reaction was out of line, unless you were kidding.

Hi Rob, ... NOT an important E-31 issue at all ..
After reading the entire thread, IMHO this thread concerns just a few people who think they DO NOT have to follow the "terms of usage" and "rules" that most of us follow.
If everyone on the board would follow the "Terms of Usage" and "rules" set forth by the webmaster this board would be a much better board for all concerned, including the complainants.
By practicing consideration for the 8 community as a whole the board might improve it's quality and somehow make it's way back to it's former glory.
In other words the complainants should consider the 8 community as a whole and not just as a bully pulpit for themselves, their vulgarity, insecurity and threats.
Rob, how are you doing with the track car? I have not seen any recent reports. Please give my regards to MaryAlice.

I believe that was an INNOCENT post and is OK
to have such emotional manifestation. I am a new father and I did enjoy JIM's post. What father wouldn't?
Tell me you're a father and you wouldn't be touched by such a feelings... If you weren't in all honesty you have ISSUES of some kind and need to do a reality check.
IS OK once in a while to throw in a post like this and spice it up a little bit. After all we're human beings with true feelings and not bunch of A*holles modomating everything we can get our hands on...
IS OK to have feelings and express joy regardless of the location, main forum or lounge.. What's next, I can't say Happy New Year, God Bless America????
Not everything have to be so f*king political correct around here, does it?
Some people here really need to take it easy a bit and get a life, rather than waiting around to push a darn modomatic button...
And yes, depending on who posts the thread, it will or it won't get modded... and it does not have to be like this with double standards....
That being said, HAPPY FATHER day to whoever can appreciate that... and for the happy trigger modomatic guys, I have one word for you, GET A LIFE....
I hate to be harsh but at this point there is no constructive approach with some people here, so you get what you've asked for....

Ethan,: , read my post. I did not say....
a thing about the content of the post.
The author has been posting on this board for months. He should know the "terms of usage" and how the MOM works.
It takes many people to MOM the post and have it moved. How many? I have no idea.
How many times have we been through this on the board?
It apprently never occurred to you that "X" number of people on this board determined that the post was inappropriate in the main forum and the post was moved to the lounge.
Your comments of:
~~~"bunch of A*holles modomating everything we can get our hands on..."
~~~"so f*king political correct around here, does it? "
~~~"get a life, rather than waiting around to push a darn modomatic button..."
~~~"it does not have to be like this with double standards...."
~~~"so you get what you've asked for...."
Have absolutely no bearing on the situation.
The poster knew what he was doing... he is not a newbie.
If you do not like how the Webmaster runs his website ... go play in another sandbox and stop your complaining.
Steven the post is not directed at you, just to
be clear.... Is directed to the folks behind their monitors having no balls to step up and say "If you do not like how the Webmaster runs his website ... go play in another sandbox and stop your complaining" as you just did.... That's better than hiding behind your monitor and keyboard....
As for your last comment it can go the other way as well,,, "if you don't like my comments or my complaints, here is the door" right? It doesn't have to be like that but it looks like sometime we have to get radical....
As for Jim, yes he ain't a newbie and yet he got EVERY right to express emotions... Let's not be bunch of a*holles about it.... I can go post by post and point out many OT posts that did not get moded just because of who posted them, and that ain't fair my friend... So let's not start splitting hair here and rather allow each others to be human when special event permits...
I am really sick and tired of those double standards and bunch of a*holles hiding behind their monitors modomating some sincere posts... and yes screw the rules and whoever voted for them to begin with.... we keep on fighting over and over about the same very issues and nothing will change till something radical will happen...
Ethan, your comment....
"I can go post by post and point out many OT posts that did not get moded just because of who posted them, and that ain't fair "
That is nothing more than your opinion and an assumption on your part.
Since you thought it was incorrect and it was not MOM'd there has to be something wrong...
There is nothing wrong ... the board population has spoken.
In this case you might wish to consider your process of thinking that brought you to a conclusion that was diametrically opposed to the majority opinion of the Board.
If a post is not MOM'd .... the entire board population decided that it was appropriate.
What could be fairer?
Now that's bull. So we know some posts broke all
board rules, and yet is OK to be OT and in the main forum cuz "the entire board population decided that it was appropriate"
So let's see if I get this warped rules correct... Even if the post is OT in the main forum and it does not get MOMed, that's OK, just because "the entire board population decided that it was appropriate"???? and you actually feel that this is OK?? Man o man....
Again going back to my previous statement.... Is about who posts the OT stuff in the main forum, some people like other people or some people don't like specific folks along with their posts.... Bottom line is that this board CAN NOT be fair and balanced and make the appropriate decisions when it comes to the Mod-O-Matic stuff... The system is broken and it does not work... Might as well run this forum like a damn communist camp....
actually lately it has been pretty stable and on T
on Topic. I turned a few page around and have yet to see a non BMW related posts in a main forum. 99.95% are 8 series related.
We have a few guys who like to post clearly OT posts. No need to name them but they know they are. it is oke to post anything imho as it is a public board. But to have a system installed MOM - and make it work is not our decision. If the owners decided that it was the best thing to do then be it. Do you want to read and scroll through 5 pages of BS before you get to the topic you wanted to read ?
the Lounge is where anything goes - even my little NWS posts ...
I agree on that OT posts are in the Lounge and BMW related posts are in the Lounge.
sure if you have a new born and you want to scream off the news and post it on the board, I'm sure most people will not MOM it. The fathers day post was nice and i can see the enjoyment and a sentimental value but lets face it, Lounge material. Can it be left in a main board ? sure, but enough people thought that it was OT so it was sent to the Lounge. Do I see it as a horrible thing - not really. It is still there and can be read. I read it 3 times due to the fights and I think it is a Lounge material.
are you and Jim wil lbe mad at me for this by saying it ? I don't know but read the disclaimer and rules and then the post. Then tell me where does it belongs to ?
I post on both board. I'm one of the few who actually reads the Lounge. lesson from this - USE THE LOUNGE ! It is almost DEAD because very few people reads it.
I tried a semi-nude pictures, car and BMW related links, nothing worked. maybe we should start MOM;-ing more post so more people would read the Lounge ? not really, E31 and BMW realted posts are belongs to the Main board. even the remotely connected ones !
