Actually Jim, I'm a dad and I can't relate to the posting. I look to the RoadFly occasionally for technical information and think that anything else is a useless distraction. I'm also a veteran so I'm not that impressed with folks who wrap themselves in the flag or put on camoflage at the drop of a hat.

Very well stated Charles. Many of us agree with you.
The lounge is the place for non-E31 related discussion.
Posts like these which are indeed off topic and the related babbling and inane rantings laced with vulgarity after they are rightfully moved to the "OFF TOPIC LOUNGE" are why many of the best technically sound E31 guys no longer post or frequent this place. Sad, but indeed true.

As for "why many of the best technically sound E31 guys no longer post or frequent this place" let's get to the bottom of that one... As much I respect you guys and appreciate the value and quality of your technical posts I am not gonna bend over and just follow you guys around like a little puppy nor build you a statue... I believe we all need to relax a bit more and not be so damn uptight... After all the definition of the perfect E31 forum in your world may be different than mine, so what do we do then?
So you guys believe that we should follow your rules just because you're more technical and you have more weight? Do we really have to go there? Can we all just share knowledge and allow a bit of spice and color in this forum? Why so many damn complaints about some posts being OT ??? Why does it bug you guys so much and can't be a bit more open minded? Yes there is a fine line in terms of OT but I haven't seen anyone crossing and abusing that borderline yet.... So why can't we all just get along???

I personally could care less as you burned your bridges with me some time ago. You are certainly entitled to your opinion as I am to mine. I have stated fact as I perceive it and you have stated same as you see it. We choose to disagree. So be it. Personally if something is off topic in the main forum, I will indeed MOM it to the Off Topic Lounge as that is where it belongs. And I dont really give a rats a__ if you like it or not. The main Lounge is for E31 related topics. The Off Topic Lounge (which we asked for years ago) is for....wait for it .....OFF TOPIC discussion. Why is that so hard to understand?
The reactions of those who have been MOM'd are as expected - full of vulgarity and thinly veiled threats. Just what one would expect I suppose when one cannot choose correctly where to post something that is clearly OFF TOPIC. Your mileage obviously varies.

No I am not in the business of burning bridges nor in the business of taking all kind of ****e from some of you old school guys, ****e that you're throwing at the new guys.... Ain't gonna beg you for favor or for help and advice, and let's not forget the help that you already provided me with, and for that I am very grateful. But that's where it stops...

So if I am reading between the lines, you're basically telling us that is your way or the high way if we really need some of your technical expertise... I am sure you've learned few things around here and what a good way of giving back :) hostage style right :) Good for you... After all you had the balls to say how you wanna play it rather than hiding behind the keyboard like others... More power to you and best wishes....but sometime you guys have to look around and listen to other voices... This forum is not just about you guys... I leave it at that and I am really disappointed that some respectable members on this forum can actually go to this kind of extreme....
