    Changes on this board

    Guys and gals,
I haven't visited the lounge for a while, and I am so disappointed with what I see here. The vulgarity and name calling remind me of junior high school. There have been numerous attacks on some good friends of mine, namely Steve Cohen and Larry Stiver. For you folks out of the area, these are two terrific gentlemen that have shared their time and talent for the betterment of the cause, enjoying our cars and making friends. Some of the attack are so juvenile about who got their butts kicked in grade school etc.

This is not what we are about here. Take it to my space or wherever your style of posting is appreciated. It certainly is not appreciated here.

This board is not a public service. It is no ones right to post here. It is a run as a business, and as a business has the right to refuse service. If this continues, I hope some are denied access.

I know there are disagreements regarding having one or two boards, and whether a lounge is even needed. But to resort to childish name calling is just not needed.

Re: we are guests in their home

Well written Kirk. I think your points and Jud's - especially where he writes: ...they (Charlie & Alan) are the owners and we're guests in their home - should be read again by anyone who seems unhappy with this board. How many of you would allow a guest to stay in your home if they behaved or treated you this way? I would imagine very few....

    True But

This is a party not a one on one invite and some of the guests they invite use mom in an ufair way to to silance out other guests without giving any thought to what they are doing. so if the host dose not
puts control measures in place and give his guest the anoymos ability to
screw with other guests post you may have a drunken brawl.

Actually, some of us pay to be here...

We should all be very grateful to Alan and Charlie for being able to have these forums, and, for the record, they also do sell some memberships here, so it should not be entirely a "their way or the highway" situation as we are not all guests here.

It concerns me that they get more worked up over people posting links to other sites that are usually very helpful and harmless, but ignore racist remarks posted fairly recently.

IMHO, they need to re-evaluate their priorities.

    Hi Rey -

I also pay my Inner Circle membership - but that certainly doesn't give me the right to be abusive, racist or just plain cruel. No, the board is far from perfect. Hopefully with the changes on the horizon that Alan mentioned things may clear up.

    Cheers,-Chris

I pay to be here too...

But it isn't worth my money to read all of the bickering and soap operas around here. I am disgusted with the personal attacks and name-calling going on.

I'd really like to stick to the cars.

    You know...

You hand your detractors a powerful weapon when you invest a lot of energy into their so-called 'attacks'. They know exactly how to get to you each and every time.

It might work to take a deep breath, let it drop (all of it, everyone, at the same time), and go back to the business of looking up part numbers and troubleshooting our beasts of cars.

Yeah, I know MOM sucks, and sure it is hard to toe the O/T line with the different personalities and expectations. (Hey, even I am guilty of skewing the occasional conversation for the fun of a joke.) But if we keep beating this dead horse, the tech talk and more importantly the COMMUNITY necessarily goes by the wayside.

I hate to see that happen.

(While I have largely kept away from the politics, I am aware of the original father's day post. 'nuff said.)

Kirk I very much disagree with you mate....

I let a lot of time go by so I can cool off and make sure that I don't let my emotions speak again. But to set the record straight for you and everybody else, this is a "public" board and not some private endeavor that runs like a private business. If that was the case we all will have to pay and use some kind authentication to get to what you paid for. With that in mind people voluntarely come here and desiminate their knowledge about the car they love the most, the E31's so other people can learn and use that knowledge. We do that in a public but yet volunteering fashion and yes Alan and Charlie had to put a framework around that in terms of rules and guidelines. They also trying to take some of the forum management burden from their shoulder enabling all of us with a function called "mod-o-matic"so OT posts will and should get moved from the main E31 forum to the lounge if they're indeed OT's.
And that's how everything started and is always about the stupid organic form that is in front of a computer. Some of you guys think that you're better than others and I really have one word for you... Grow up if you haven't done so by now, and please for the love of God, loose the ELITIST attitude some of you have, and Steve Cohen and the other bunch you know what I am talking about... Demographics and the lower prices of the E31 have nothing to do with the quality of this forum. Is all in your warped minds... What really have to do with this forum is basic common sense, kindness and helping the others regardless of their demographics factors... We all here for the love of E31.
Yes some of you may feel insulted and I really can care less. It hurst me as much as it hurts you when I hear and see some of this elitist crap going around...

So yes this board is great but some of you will have take it down a noch and stop thinking in big terms of demographics and elite. If you really wanna hang out with the elite, please here is the door and allow the rest of us the mortals to continue with this board without being governed buy some twisted mentalities.

So with that in mind this is how I see it. There is no such a thing, my E31 is better than yours, or I am better than YOU are. Well are equals and we should respect and help each other as such...

You forgot to address vulger and abusive

personal attacks. If you don't like something, fix it in a civilized manner. I hope you understand that civility is the foundation of respect you talk about.

Faisal, how do you expect to fix it in a civilized

manner when you have bunch of people behind their keyboards not having the guts to stand up for what they believe in and killing "fathers day" posts because they think is right?
The civilized manner goes both ways my friend and yes indeed "Partial truth is always a lie"... Right back at you and the ones hiding behind their keyboards holding on to the partial truth. I say what I have to say, I stand for what I believe is right and I expect a civilized person do the same. When you choose to hide behind your keyboard and INSULT me with personal and confidential e-mails then you get back what you deserve. And there is nothing civilized about being insulted, trust me...

In a personal note I have no beef with you or anybody else except for Steve Cohen.. It got personal and I plan to keep it that way...

Reminds me a of a sign....

    "NO WHINING!" ;-)

Come on Ethan, this is not winning you any friends. Some MoM users stood up and identified themselves. You probably pretty much knew who they were anyway and you understand their position - and so does everyone else.

Please let it drop. I seriously doubt that even the lounge has any interest in re-witnessing that 'debate'.

Let's instead get back to on topic and 'not so much off topic' e31 posts.
