Could faulty ignition switch cause start/die ...
scenario? Have been chasing a problem where the car will start, but dies immediately upon release of the key. Has anyone correctly diagnosed this problem as a faulty ignition switch problem. Could I finally be close to a solution? Your thoughts, please!1984 533i

Re: Could faulty ignition switch cause start/die .
Sounds right.., look at the ETM. There must be a start signal (12v)sent to the ECU in order to run. The 12v signal is when the key is in the run position. So after you engage the starter and let the key go.., the key is in Run, and if she dies I'd check this wire first to see if you get 12v.
