this is a russian car named Zaporozech. one of the worst car ever made, but a copy of a german NSU.
rear engined, air cooled 600 or 700ccm. Very weak even with a 4spd manual (only choice)
at the last year of high school many of us had driver license mid-year. (limit was/is 18y/o of age) and we tried to buy this type of car. the price was very low, today us price 55usd (back then it was more like 400usd)
5 of us got in and told the owner if the car makes it up to the high school we buy it. it was a moderate uphill, nothing big just long. needless to say the car failed miserably and we rolled back and broke the deal.

hehehe that's funny ! Do you remember the car ?
I'm pretty sure you guys had this technological marvel too !
I don't know why but I never took pictures of the funny cars I had a chance to drive. The Zapor was not something you want to remember. The Skoda MB1000 was a tad better only :-)
I liked the wartburg and the Lada, plus my favorite was the Polski Fiat 125. That one had a 1.5 later 1.7 engine and rear wheel drive. too bad it rusted out in 3-4 years !
