    Exterior Door Handle

I've checked the archives and can't find a match to this problem.

The driver's exterior door handle on my '03 X5 3.0 won't open the door and is sticking out about 1/8" from its normal position. When pushed into place, there is minor resistance and it pops right back out. The inner door handle operates fine and the lock/unlock functions work with both the key and the remote. The window works fine.

I found some mention of a door handle cable while searching the archives and I looked at the RealOEM picture, but so far I can't visualize what the problem might be. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You guys didnt' search very far!

I have posted on this several times, as have others.

The Roadfly search engine doesn't seem to work at all some times, I think. It returns "no hits" for most searches.

Anyway, here is the step by step replacement procedure. About $90 for the part.

A COMMON E53 PROBLEM, by the way. You'll see postings all over the net if you google it.

    Good luck!
