you should get a deep discount
for someone who has ruined a car with cig smoke. There is a device that is supposed to eliminate the odor. It has something to do with ozone. I'd check with a detail shop to find out. IMG]http://forums1.roadfly.com/preferences/showsigimage.php?img=71085[37sunsetverticle.jpg] height=240 width=320>

no offense, just can't stand the smell of cig smok
and every car I've ever been in that has been a smokers car is very offensive to me. I personally would never buy a car that has been smoked in, it permeates the interior and is very difficult to get rid of. I have X5's as business cars. My biz partner smokes in his. When we looked at trading them in, our local dealer wouldn't take his because of the smell. Harsh it is!

Free deoderizer....
1. Clean the leather (with Lexol or your favorite leather cleaner). Shampoo the carpets and other cloth (do NOT clean the headliner), clean all interior glass and plastic surfaces as well as well. I use Windex Vinegar for the glass, and Lexol vinyl cleaner for the plastics. You can clean the A and C pillar covers with a damp washcloth (75% water/ 25% vinegar solution) if you are gentle about it.
2. Park the car in bright sunlight and let the interior warm up, preferably to about 120 or 130 degrees F., then open all the windows, and let it air out for a few hours in the open sunlight and perferably overnight as well. Do this repeatedly for a few days and you will have a fresh interior.
3. To get the smell of leather back, buy some leather scraps and put them inside a cardboard box (don't want them to stain the seats), and place them in direct sunlight inside the car for a day or two.
Then use a leather dressing (I once again use Lexol), to seal the leather smell in and protect the leather.
I used to smoke cigars, and it worked on cigar smoke, which makes other smokable organic material residual odor seem like a fresh breeze in comparison.
I've had VERY smoke sensitive people in my car (long distance runner, bicyclers, etc.), and they were totally unable to detect any smoke odor (they bragged that they would be able to, but I proved them wrong again and again.) My way of deoderizing is so effective I would bet I could smoke a cigar in the car on Sunday and have a sensitive non-smoker in the car one week later with no idea the car had ever been smoked in. Smoke "damage" is non-existent in my opinion.

Just be careful...
Ozone is much more reactive than O2. It is a very powerful oxidizing agent, second among elements only to fluorine. It can oxidize many organic compounds and is used commercially as a bleach for waxes, oils, and textiles, and as a deodorizing agent. Ozone can damage (deteriorate) rubbers and many materials in concentrated dosages - and can be dangerous to breathe - so don't sit in your car while it's running! It can work great as a deodorizers - just be careful!
Many of the fire damaged items in our home were "cleaned" with ozone - and many fell apart soon after we got them (clean smelling) back!

A cigar cost me $1000
Put a deposit on an 8 sight unseen from Toronto and I flew out to complete the deal. The insides were ruined from cigars that the owner smoked. He burned the door frame fabric. I went over to Downtown BMW for some further research and a seagull hit me good.
I had no cheap way of getting home so I had to pay for an AC business class flight.
