CSi = perfect fit. you might want to add a swaybar
or stabilizer bar (both name correct) as those make a huge difference. I have a 97 840ci and I used the CSI sway bars front/rear and they are great.
make sure to use new bushings and links with them and you will feel a huge difference in handling. Total cost is less then a front or rear sway bar alone ! downright cheap if you think about it ! a set of bars with new bushings/links cost me less then $400.00
excellent upgrade ! <a href="http://mydrive.roadfly.com/photos/pic.php?u=56726KDZYN&i=8969"><img src="http://mydrive.roadfly.com/photos/pic.php?u=56726KDZYN&i=8969" border="0"></a>

my post below was supposed to be a joke
the Csi fits the 840 perfectly. I meant to say that if you happen to have a CSI spring set I'd like to buy it if you don't use it.
the rear is what I'm after, I have an H&R and I want to raise the rear a little bit. <a href="http://mydrive.roadfly.com/photos/pic.php?u=56726KDZYN&i=8969"><img src="http://mydrive.roadfly.com/photos/pic.php?u=56726KDZYN&i=8969" border="0"></a>

Laszlo...Have you considered a Spring pad spacer
from MWrench? That will give you the height you are after without sacrificing the comfort. Send him an E-Mail asking about them. I bought a set I will be putting on soon.<html>

Re: Laszlo...Have you considered a Spring pad spacer
I did and as the matter of fact I already have one on. I used Energy suspensions spring pad, (all you need is match the diameter) cost is cheap and I have access to energy parts.
The problem is that if you go over a small size like 1/4" then a float effect happens suring cornering. Even Ed told me that people reported similar floatings and advised me to reconsider this before ordering. I used a set 1/8" pad and it helped a little but as you can guess not much, but the floating can be very funny feel. Off-roaders use the spring pads and they also talk about floating but of course they use 1-2" of pads to raise the height.
I just bought a set of OEM springs which according to Ed, is stiffer then H&R and will cut 3/4" to put it between the H&R and CSi springs. The rate is also in between, stronger then H&R but a tad softer then CSi. The CSi spring is also progressive while the stock ci and H&R springs are not. The Csi Spring therefore can not(or should not) be cut just like the front springs, but the rear standard Ci springs are oke to cut. Sure not more then 1" or 1.5" but I'm planning to do only 3/4" which will give me about the perfect matched ride height to the front. it will be higher but because the rate is higher the cornering will be same so nothing suffers and I will have a leveled car. I also use the CSi bump stops to avoid bottoming out on the bump stops.
With the CSi rear sway bar in place and new links/bushings and soon rear ball joints/bushings replaced my cars handling will be a whole lot better.
I chose a fairly tall tires 255/45 which I do not like much (too fat tires on the wheel) but gives me enough comfort to get through the everyday obstacles here in SC. I use my car very often and had lots of trouble with potholes, entry and exist, so I wanted a little raise. The tire did the trick, I can now go in and out of my driveway without scraping the front spoiler. Of course it needs to be painted and lower strip to be reinstalled (finally I can put that small rubber back)
Sacrifices that we have to make, like everywhere in life :-)
