    645/650 vs. E46 M3

Hi guys, I have been in the market all summer looking for the right E46 M3, but then I started to let my mind wander, and I started thinking maybe I should just get an 04/05 6er. I don't track cars, so that is not a factor, nor do I live around a lot of fun curvey mountainous roads. I wanted the M3 because of the power and fun to drive factor, but I don't care about a half-second on the 0-60 time.

Does anyone have any comments that may be helpful? anyone go from one to the other?

    Thx.

    Re: 645/650 vs. E46 M3

I had a 2004 E46 M3 convertible and got rid of it for my 2007 650 Convertible. They are BOTH fun cars. They both perform well on twisty roads. I just got tired of the bumpy ride, especially on long trips on the M3 my passengers would complain that they feel car sick especially when I use to drive to Lake Tahoe (twisty roads). So I opted for the 6er which has the perfect everything from handling with comfort and luxury than and an E46 M3. Good Luck and let us know which you choose./

never had a m3 but several 330 with sport. even there the ride is not what you'll get with the 5-6 series. i do a long distance drive every year [5000+miles round trip]. the 3 series would leave you with a jittery feeling after 10-12hr driving. the 5 series was 90% better and the 650 is no jitter at all. if your even considering a 6 then that the way to go. that is unless you in your 20s, us old f@@@@s just cant stand that hard ride.

6 will get you there just as fast and corner close to a m3.

    Re: 645/650 vs. E46 M3

I'm currently driving a 650 coupe. Previously, had an e46 M3 cab with ACS suspension, Borla exhaust, 19" wheels, and drilled disks. 650 and M3 are radically different cars. M3 closer to hardcore sports car (ride is too stiff with standard suspension) & 650 closer to classic GT. Motor characteristics are opposite too - M3 is pipey, top-end motor; 650 is all grunt with no top-end (compared to M5 I also had and Z8 I now have). 650 perhaps too refined, but very easy to drive very fast, and draws lots of positive attention (despite some posters' criticisms of its styling) - more than any BMW I've owned (have had 7) other than Z8.
