Depends on what coast you are on somewhat.
These folks are one carrier to East Coast: http://www.2wglobal.com/www/wep/index.jsp
You can put in your VIN to see what ship it is on.
Then there is a track ship site that works for some carriers. It is here:http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/search.phtml
I did this on right coast. Not sure what left coasters have to do.

It is the same for both east and west coast ports. However not all cars are shipped by Wallenius Wilhelmsen. If it is not, there is not much you can do other than ask your dealer or use the not descriptive update on the owner's circle website.
The site http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/search.phtml does track ships. However it is very dependent on the captain to turn on the automatic tracking. So again it may not work for the voyage of your car.
