Any advice on the issues to deal with prior to driving away from the dealership? I saw a check list in the past on the forum but could not find it through search. Thanks for comments!

The once over for finish defects.
Get black floor mats.
Set key preferences.
Pair iPhone bluetooth.

The secret to my success

You alreadt mentioned some:

1. Bring a reliable tire pressure gauge. (Dealerships notoriously "forget" to check the tire pressure and the cars are imported from the Vaterland with at least 45-50 psi in them.

2. Bring your mobile phone and you can pair it (or be shown how to pair it). In the event it won't pair, you may have a problem.

3. Make your "acquaintance call" for BMW Assist at the dealership. That way you'll be covered from the moment you leave the dealership. A lot of problems arise when you try to make the call from a poor service area. And you won't know where a poor service area is since it's a new car.

4. Bring your fine tooth comb. Check everything over very carefully before you agree to take the car for the obligatory test drive before you accept it. You are looking for any bruises in paint or interior surfaces and any blemishes of any kind. Checking applies equally to the interior finishes, particularly if you have light coloured leather. It is almost unlikely to have a dirt mark spot free light coloured leather interior when your car is off-loaded from the ship. Depending on your country's customs regulations, the customs officials may soil parts of the trim with dirt marks upon physical inspection.

5. Many buyers instruct their dealers not to wash their cars before they pick them up. I think it's a bit [Oops!], but it's (going to be) your car. So if you think you can do a better job, go for it.

6. Likewise, many buyers don't want to put on front plates, if they can get away with it. If you can contact your dealer early enough in the process, tell him to leave the front bumper virgin.

7. The only "option" you should consider from your dealer before you drive off is the tire replacement "insurance." It costs the dealer $350, and if you have 1 flat with a runflat, and damage one tire, in 4 years, you will have made money if you negotiate well with the dealer. Since it's pure profit for the dealer over $350, and since you've just dropped a ton of money there, don't agree to pay more than $75 more for the tire replacement "insurance." (It's not really insurance.)

8. If you have a garage door opener, bring it with you. If it's not a "rolling code" type your dealer's SA (or maybe the salesman) will be able to program it for you with the Homelink device in your car. If it's rolling code he can visually and aurally explain it to you. There's a much better chance you'll "get it" if you see it and hear it at the same time rather than read it. Basically, the concept with the "rolling code" is that after you program your car with your remote control frequency, your car and garage (or other device) have to talk to each other a couple of times before your car is on the same random code sequence as your garage (or other device). So you program car, run out and press the communication button on the garage (device), run back to the car and speak to the garage (device) by pressing the button again, and maybe go back to the garage or device one last time. That should do it. To check you go to the car and ask it one last time if it has been "sequenced" (by pressing the button again).

9. If you're really [Oops!] (I was), get a copy of the owner's manual ahead of time and read through it.

10. Take a camera with you for documentation of any dealer fix-its if you have agreed to any and the total turnover.

11. Many perfer to have any aftermarket items (BMW or non-BMW) installed prior to delivery. If that is your intention, make sure they are completed and ready prior to pickup. And check them out as well as the OEM stuff. No need for two trips if it is not necessary.

12. If [Oops!] about having stealer logos applied to the car. The license plate frame ones are OK - you can toss those out. I'm talking about the type that are stuck on the rear of the car. Tell
them NO stealer logos on the car.

13. Bring some good music CDs (MP3s if you plan you use CD or DVD for these types). It not only enhances your experience when you drive away in your new BMW, but it allows you to test your sound system in many ways. Also Also if you got the 6FL option be sure to ask for your cable (already mentioned). Bring anything you might use to test Aux Input. Get proper info on SIRIUS and try signing up while at dealer if you can. Not sure if you still get 1-year free from BMW.

14. Try to get Both remote keys or FOBS set up the same

15. Also if not volunteered by your sales person - Be sure and ask for the paper work on 6 Driving Experience

16. Get hard copy of order info and options (standard and extras). Get software version so you know where you started.

Thank you cobradev for your list! That is the one I was looking for.
Picked her up Sat AM. All went well. It came with the iPod adapter in the glove box. iPhone works flawlessly. IDrive is an improvement as well. Loving the new color (Monoco blue) and the new interior (extended leather - saddle brown) as well as the new rims and added HP. The heads-up display is fun as well. New sport/auto takes some readjustment though. Great to be back in a 6 series after 6 weeks in loaners/rentals/family cars. Dying to "open her up" but must wait a bit I guess. Valentine1 install in the next week or so.

valentine is great but try the new bluetooth k40. i just got 07 blue 650 tan interior also conv. havent had a bmw since 88. I also bought a 635 in july 07.

SITUATION
The customer may complain about the following issues when their compatible Bluetooth enabled handset is paired to the vehicle.

Bluetooth connection is lost.

"Low Bluetooth Signal" is displayed on the handset.

"Low Bluetooth Signal, Use Handset?" is displayed on the handset.

CAUSE
Another Bluetooth enabled device is installed in the vehicle or is within close proximity to the vehicle. E.g. Calibre K40 (Bluetooth enabled) radar detector.

PROCEDURE
Inform the customer that the secondary Bluetooth device needs to be removed from the vehicle for the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) and their handset to communicate correctly.
