Embarrassed, Shocked, and Disappointed

When I bought my 850i in 2003, I stumbled across this website and was amazed at how people like Steve, Faisal, Wuffer, and some others were willing to share their intricate knowledge of this fine automobile, and yet ask nothing in return. Over the past couple of years I haven't really stuck with the site, and was shocked and dismayed when a friend that I recently referred to this site came back to me and challenged me regarding the referral. Not understanding why he came back so disgusted, I came in tonight and read thru approximateley 20 pages of dialogue that quite frankly, disappointed and sometimes offended me. I don't understand how it came to this but the posts just seem to be from irrational, and quite angry, jerks hell bent on getting a rise out of anyone who posts here.

It's embarrassing when my friend comments on how self absorbed, irrational, illiterate, unprofessional, and down right rude most of you have become. Whomever is at the top of this Board's food chain should step in and ban/block quite a few of these beligerent people. This has nothing to do with "freedom of speech" (those of you making that case should freshen up on your Bill of Rights), and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Have courtesy and common decency been lost on you?

Have you no understanding of respect for your fellow man?

This is not your opportunity to shout your opinions until everyone agrees with you. State your opinion, maybe even back it up with fact, but don't insult and offend simply because you will never be face to face and forced to own up for your actions. This "cyber courage" does not make you courageous, this only exposes your cowardice.

Most of all, if you truly have something productive to say and want the idiocy to cease, then stop responding to those on this site that obviously have nothing better to do than try their darndest to ruin a good thing by spreading hate and discontent.

Brett,

There were a few significant trolls who have now been banned. They were using multiple accounts and multple aliases to troll the E31 board.

I hope that 2008 is a lot better than 2007 for this board. Let's get back to the peaceful place we were at in 2006.
