Thinking of buying an E36 for track and have ???
Not sure if I should buy a E36M3 close to stock and built it, OR buy something that already has some of the mods I want on it already.
Looking to put on camber plates, springs, swaybars, bushings, cam , exhaust ,CAI, track alignment etc....
Im thinking It would be less $$$ to buy something built already but not sure about this is the way to go or not...
Was also thinking of the to be released tii, but I think this will be much less $$$.

e30 makes a good track car too, lite
However the strut setup is not as easy as an e36, for swapping stuff out.
Depends on how serious you are, there can be rear subframe issues.
I don't have plates or thicker sways, but others.
Usually heavier springs make up for sways or vis versa._______

I found it fun to build my own
It's fun to mod it the way you want it, and maybe do it gradually to appreciate the changes as it becomes the car you want. Of course, many cars listed already have the popular mods you listed. I wouldn't pass on a modified car if it's what you are looking for and the price is right. Either way you go, it's a great track car.
I would also work on the suspension before I did any engine upgrades. I won't break into mine until it needs a rebuild, then I'll do the cams, manifold, etc.

How long do the engines last before needing a rebu
rebuild??? I know it is probably based on a number of factors but what is a good general rule?

Re: Thinking of buying an E36 for track and have ???
I've enjoyed the process of selecting the pieces, installing them and tuning them. This has been slow as I only get to the track once a year. This year it will be brakes, as they weren't doing their job last summer. Added greatly to the excitement!
Given my once a year visits, I'm tempted to sell out, but it's such a blast when I do make it. I've done suspension and diff only, no internal engine mods so far, only 70K on a '95.

definitely, IIRC rake is supposed to be 1"
That's what I set mine too back then. Starting with as low front as possible. Which was very near the bottom threads on the GC units I have._______

after the back chicane then that could be loading. The pic of mine is approaching the roller coaster so attitude is a little more standard_______
