Next Gen 6 information
Does anybody really know much about the next generation 6 series? There has been a lot of talk about the CS show car being the model for the next version. Remember Z9?
All the iterations the CS I have seen are of a 4 door CLS-like coupe, except Motor Trend's slight facelift.
I really like the current car [mine was a 4/04 delivery, first current 6er at the South Carolina Zentrum]. And I really like the wider array of interior colors available now. And I do not want a 4 door regardless of how "coupe-y" it looks.
Beyond the offering of a sport version and a luxury version, I just want to know if any credible information about the next generation 6 series is available anywhere--I searched.
Some great cars over the years; Yellow 1966 Corvette convertible, '71 240Z, 1978 280Z, '80 MGB, 1986 MBZ 300E,'88 BMW L6, 1990 MBZ 300 CE-24; 1997 E420, 2003 CLK 430, 2004 350Z, 2004 BMW 645 Ci, 1988 MBz 560SL, 2007 SL 550, 2008 E320 Bluetec, 2008 BMW 535xi, 2001 540iA

Re: Next Gen 6 information
I am 99.9% positive we keep a 2-door 6er in the F12/F13 chassis even if it is CS influenced. Other than that, not much to go on. If it hasn't happened prior to this it will have no less than the V8tt now in the X6. Do not know if the Dual Clutch tranny announced to be offered in the M3s in March 08 will make its way into non-Ms but we did have a watered down SMG so who knows?
Guessing is half the fun:)

Thanks--I hope they don't get distracted by the MB CLS. I understand they have to sell them, but think that going to a 4 door would be a lot like the old Datsun 280Z versus 280Z 2+2; more practical, but not the same car.
CLS is a nice car, not a 2 door. I guess what I am trying to decide is whether to buy another current model [love the car, not confident I want to own one out of warranty] now that interior color choices are wider.
Part of me thinks that a 6 with a slightly revised rump and other tweaks could take the car from exceptional to classic, a la e 24.

Boy, there are sure a lot of options now on this new generation 6er both exterior and interior. Let us know how you speced it.
So far I am not as thrilled by this generation as I was over the e63/64 platform. But I have yet to go to see in person so I shoud reserve judgement somewhat. But what technology they have crammed into these now. I am eager to see the LED headlight package. That seems amazing to me.

Just left BMW of the Woodlands and ordered my new 2012 650i Coupe. Still dont have an MSRP, but was able to order an M Sport Package! My new car will be Carbon Black with Cinnamon Brown Nappa. Got the M Sport Pkg w/20" Wheels, Driver Assistance pkg, Cold Weather Pkg, Luxury Seating Pkg, Premium Sound Pkg, Cold Weather Pkg (Yes I know its Houston, but the ski bag hold my fishing rods), BMW Apps. and Instrument Panel with leather finish and Cinnamon Brown Stiching. Mid July Build and late August delivery.
Since there seems to be a question on whether you can get The M Sport Pkg, or what it includes, my build sheet shows 19" or 20" wheels, Multi-Contour seats, LED Fog Lights, M Steering wheel, Aerodynamic kit, Alcantra headliner and...wait for it...INCREASED top Speed limiter (They would not tell me how much, and not that I am taking the car to that speed...but I could)
WOO HOO!
