Just Purchased 88 M5

Hi all, Just purchased 88 M5 after 20 some other vintage BMWs, 2002s, Bavarias, 320is, 323i, 535i(e28). See the link below, I have so much to learn on this thing... I actually already found an answer concerning the heat out of the center vent, via the archives.

BTW - What is the "break in stick" that he mentioned?

I have heat in the footwell and defroster, but none out the center vent. I replaced the heater control valve insert, but still no change. Where to next?

Fresh air in your face to keep you alert. Warm air on your feet to keep your feet warm and of course the defroster.

..your new best friend. Call him first when you need parts. That's some high miles on there. Any chance the motor was rebuilt, or do you plan to do it yourself? They are mighty cars. BMW seems to have forgotten how to build a car with soul like the original M5. Keep her going, and I hope you don't have to spend $15k on up to drive her.

vent on the top of the dash was? Our cars have a blank cover over the vent, but if you get an older vent like I did, then you can have whatever air that normally comes from the vents also come out the top. Seems to give some cool air to the back seats?

any guesses?
