    Speedometer stopped working/switched kph to mph

    1985 528e. What would cause the speedometer not to function when the speed sensor is good. Speedometer was switched out from kph to mph, I used the kph clock back or guts but switch in mph gears, would that cause it to stop working? Any help will be appreciated.
