blown motor
I bought my 2006 m5 in Apri 06 love the car!!! no major problems just typical recalls, did some mods a year ago just headers, exhaust, gears, suspension and flashed ecu nothing internal, car was incredible but a week ago motor blows and the car went on fire. I am now waiting for some type of investigaton from Bmw cant even believe there is any question as to this being anything but a warranty issue. If anyone has heard of this happening to any one else please let me know.

Re: blown motor
Here is the basics of how warranty works. It is for a defect in the workmanship of a failure of a part from the factory. If there is any possibility that one of the mods you did could have caused this issue then warranty will not pay for any repairs. For example: if you did these mods and a window regulator failed then the reg would be covered. Since you did powertrain mods then the engine will probably not be covered. Were the o2 sensors swapped? If so the definately no repairs will be covered. If you built the vehicle and it was modified beyond design specs would you pay for the repairs? Probably not.
