My 1st earthquake
About 7:15 this morning, sitting in my chair watching the morning news. The house started slightly shaking like a train was going by, then it got rumbling, pictures banging around, my chair was shaking, lots of noise, mostly me yelling at Jr to wake up. It lasted 15-20 seconds. All I can say is that I don't want to experience a Major quake. This was enough.
I'm about 200 miles from the Wells Nevada. They had the 6.0 quake.

I've only been in one...and it was mild...
I was in San Jose a few years back and started to feel queasy. I heard that was a common "symptom" of quakes so I noted the time. After I got home I found out there was a 4.0 quake at the exact same time. Interesting feeling. No shaking, no rumbling...just slightly sick to my stomach.
I agree, though...I don't want to be around for a big one!

Congrats. Indeed - small ones are enough.
I rather like the small ones now. Just so long as they stay small.
I was a few miles from the 7.0 in the Loma Prieta (CA) quake in '89.
Not a fun 30-second "ride". Couldn't even get home for a day due to road closures - hillsides collapsed, car-sized boulders on the roads.
...and they say that wasn't even the "Big One". Hmm.

I was in the 89 Loma Prieta 7.2 quake. I was on
third floor of the county office building in Redwood City, CA and thought it was all over. The intensity just kept increasing. I dove under my desk to avoid all the stuff falling and being thrown around. That was the longest 15 seconds of my life until I rolled my M Roadster at Thunderhill.<img src="http://www.roadfly.org/bmw/gallery/photos/photos-04-2004/13-2908598.jpg"height=225width=300><img src="http://www.roadfly.org/bmw/gallery/photos/photos-04-2004/13-8802959.jpg"height=225width=300>

6.8 here a few years ago. Lived on 6th floor
on top of some wetlands. Scariest thing I've ever experienced. There's no way those rooms could have distorted as much as they actually did. Walking was completely impossible.
Glad you're ok!<a href="http://mydrive.roadfly.com/photos/pic.php?u=12416ZZeyI&i=10430"><img src="http://mydrive.roadfly.com/photos/pic.php?u=12416ZZeyI&i=10430" border="0"></a>
