No crack; turn ignition nothing no start

My 1985 528e does not start: no crank when try to start dash lights come on. I believe it's the ignition switch have tested for continuity at the switch. Passed the pin 2 to 3 and the pin 1 to 3 check both had continuity failed the 10 to 3 and 5&6 check. I read a post from Ron W that mention a starter test jumping pin 11&14 on a 15 pin. Has anyone tried this test? Did if start and if so than did you replace the ignition switch with positive results. also can this test be done on the 15 pin of a 1985 528e. I believe Ron W posted this to a 535 owner.

    Standard or Automatic transmission? Jumping

11 & 14 in the diagnostic connector will energize the starter, the engine still may not start if the ignition switch is flaky.
