Fuel gauge reads zero on full tank

This was unbelievable. I was getting a low Windshield Washer fluid message for a couple of days. I was lazy and hadn't put any in to stop the warning.

On my way to a meeting, I stopped and filled the tank (floated a bond issue to do so.) At lunchtime, I got in my car. The fuel tank showed empty and the range indicator showed 1 mile to empty.

I looked around the car, no leaks were apparent. I drove to my destination without incident. The "no fuel" messages stayed on at lunchtime.

At the end of the day, the low fuel messages were gone and the low washer fluid message was back.

Happened to me on my 03, its just a module that went bad.

Happened twice on my '04 in the last year. Gas cap wasn't tightened properly the first time. Who knows why the second time? Service department checked and all is supposedly fine.

I had this happena dn they replaced the fuel sensor. There are two and if one is bad or sends erroneous data, the systems decides to set the level to zero. I ahd to go back 2X to complain at the dealers to get it done though.

Twice I had a bad fuel "sender" (that's what my SA called it). There are two of them, so the gauge would read half the amount of gas in the tank. Replaced under warranty.
