    Need radio code

Hi I am new to this board. Just got a 1999 M3 convertable which promptly blew the head gasket. I got a used engine and just got it back on the road this weekend. I go to turn the radio on and it is asking for the code. A friend told me if I have the vin number a dealer could give me the code. Hopefully someone here can do that. The vin number is: WBSBK0333XEC40242.

    Lots more questions to follow.

    Thanks

More likely need to walk in to the dealer

and bring proof that you own the car with that VIN.

    Re: Yup!!

Just got back from the stealer ($30.00 ouch). Turns out they needed the serial number off the radio to do this, not the VIN.

    Serial number

You can get the serial nubmer from the display by turning the ignition to position 2 while pressing and holding the "M" button on the radio for 10 seconds. Sorry this was too late
