I have a feeling I just got robbed...
Bought a camera online for a friend on Sunday and never heard back from the vendor. Called several times and wrote a couple emails to them, but no answer. Googled their name and all these complains come up (I guess I should have done that before, but what the heck, is not like you run a report on every store you buy form). So sent them an email to cancel my order.
Called AmEx, but no charge yet; they have my heads-up on file.
Anyone with similar experience has some tips?
Btw, the site is called "cameraaddict.com".

I just disputed a charge.
The lamp on my LCD bigscreen went out. Bought a new lamp. It arrived and I installed it. It worked, but the picture was WAY too dim. Called them and they said that if I sent it back, they would test it to see if there was something wrong with the lamp or with my T.V. Sent it back and didn't hear back from them.
I got a new lamp and installed it. T.V. worked fine. So I sent them an e-mail to tell them it was the lamp and not the T.V. They replied that they were still testing it and would get back to me when they had results. I never heard back from them.
So I called Visa and disputed the charge. Visa credited my account. Haven't heard if the retailer is going to challenge my dispute. I dare them to! ;o)
Amex is very cardmember-friendly, so keep them involved and you should be okay.

UPDATE: according to their scam...
...they sent me an email asking to call in a number to verify the order. Based on several review, they try to seel you all this crap, like battery, charger, lenses, that they claim doesn't come with the camera. Then they tell you the camera is in Japanese and the US version costs more.
Luckly they canceled my order...
Now I'll go back to mammy Amazon begging for mercy for trying something else... I'm sure she'll forgive me and take my AmEx...

Re: Where'd you get the correct lamp?
Well, they were both "the correct lamp." It's just that one worked and the other didn't.
I have learned, though, that it's pretty easy to put a new lamp in the old housing, so I no longer feel constrained to buying the whole assembly. You can save about $30 or so by just buying the lamp and swapping it into the new housing.
I don't recall off the top of my head where I got the second lamp, but it was somewhere online. Might even have been associated with Amazon.

Re: Thanks...
If you dispute it, your credit card company does a quick review. If they determine the dispute is justified, which they should, then they will charge it back against the seller's bank. The seller then has a certain amount of time to challenge the dispute. If they do, then it has to be resolved. If they don't then you have your money back and can move on.

Re: Sheesh! How many lamps have you gone through?
I got the TV about 5 years ago. First lamp lasted about 4 years. Got a new lamp about a year ago. That one lasted until a couple months ago. I was not pleased.
I bought the defective replacement and installed it. When I realized it was faulty, I just decided to order a spare. That way I would be able to install it immediately without having to wait for this "testing period" (which is still ongoing, BTW) and I would have a spare for the next time the lamp decided to blow. So I got that third one without the housing.
The recent lamp blew the night of the Stanley Cup finals game 5. I had friends over to watch the game in high def. The lamp blew about 2 minutes before puck drop! I was cursing myself for not having a spare on hand. Won't let that happen again! I would suggest buying two.

They must!
When my lamp blew, I just sat there in astonishment. It was literally AT puck drop. I couldn't believe it.
That's why I will always have a spare bulb on hand from now on.

Makes no sense
If I had bought a 60 inch plasma, at the time, it would have cost $25,000. For a T.V. that didn't have true dark blacks. And if (when) it went out, the set would have been done. Now, I have an LCD, it is only 10 inches deeper than a plasma. It gives me richer blacks, which provide the base for all the other colors. And when the lamp blows, I pay $150 for a new lamp and essentially have a new T.V. instead of an anchor.
So what was that you were saying about plasma again?
