    Thank you very much.

See! This is the same sorta irony I'm talking about.

    <font color= gray>You are something else And I don't mean that in a good way.</font>

For YOU to say I'm 'something else in a bad way', then I'm probably doing somethin *right*. =8^)

Loosely similar, based upon Favre's <u>most recent/relevant</u> performance against Chicago, Bears fans would be sad to see him leave GB.

    For the first time?

<font color= gray>You now claim that your initial post dealt only with 2007.</font>

False...Please don't put words in my mouth...You've already been caught trying to put words into your own mouth, after the fact.

Anyway, has the 2008 NFL regular season started yet, Y/N? When did the last full regular schedule occur?

So, I posted the results of the most recent two contests among the Bearz & Packers in 2007 => Not open to dispute, per official source.

Since they're not open to dispute, as a diversionary ploy, you alluded to Favre's career TDs @ Soldier Field. Immaterial.

<font color= gray>Go back and take a closer look. Do you really mean to suggest that Favre set the interception record by throwing all of those interceptions in one year? I don't think so.</font>

Go back and take a closer look. Do you really mean to suggest that Favre set the TD record by throwing all of those TDs in 2007?

Exactly how many TDs did Favre throw at the '07 game @ Soldier Field? And how many INTs?

Therefore, you've had no reasoned dispute.

<font color= gray>Was your "he's been jerking the Packers around for several years now" comment intended to only refer to 2007? Certainly doesn't sound like it, using "several years" and all.</font>

It should be obvious to everyone that I was referring to his off-the-field behavior. Very obvious.

<font color= gray>When you said "throughout the storied rivaly" were you talking only about the 2007 games as comprising a "storied rivalry?" I would venture to say no - you were talking about the history of the two teams playing each other over the course of MANY years.</font>

Were you trying to be cute here???

I also said that what's been 'good' for one team has been 'bad' for the other and vice-versa. This happens to be my opinion of arch-rivalries.

The results of the two 2007 contests among the Bearz & Packers are striking. Striking because of Favre's seemingly uncharacteristic poor performance. Poor because, seriously, how does a team go 13-1 against the rest of the NFL <u>and</u> 0-2 against the Bearz? The '07 Bearz, FCOL! 13-1 + 0-2 = 13-3 => Facts beyond dispute.

To reiterate, I consider those facts to be "less known". The inference being [Granted, too subtle for some], that that's incongruous with what Bearz & Packers fans alike would initially think of the rivalry, since Favre was traded to GB.

By his standards, he sucked in against the Bearz in '07. So, what do you do? You blurt out his career TD stats. HELLO! The whole point was that he's not as good now as he's been in the past. As I later researched, his sucky period against the Bearz goes back to 2004. Consequently, there's absolutely NO WAY his record(s) up to and including 2003 can be used to dispute/refute what's happened since, 2004-2007. His recent performance can't be used to discount his early performance. His early performance can't be used to pretend his recent performance doesn't exist.

Perhaps Brian Urlacher viewed it best. When the Bearz played Dallas, he said of Tony Romo, <i>He's a young Brett Favre.</i> Then the next time they played GB, he said of Favre, <i>He's an old Tony Romo.</i>

<font color= gray>No question, your initial post talked about more than 2007. And you pretty harshly lambasted Favre in that posting.</font>

I will ask again: Who here previously called him a "punk"?

<font color= gray>I just pointed out that Favre hasn't exactly been a patsy for the Bears over the course of his career.</font>

...In a weak attempt to change the subject.

<font color= gray>You can try to dance around it now, but the posts don't lie.</font>

Um, I'll leave that to you.

<font color= gray>Unless you go back and edit your posts now to fit your version of events.</font>

    C'mon now...You're just b-b-bitter that I pre-empted you from doing just that...

Typing more words doesn't change the facts

It doesn't make sense to rehash things, because you refuse to accept simple facts. I'll just point out that the length of a post is not necessarily proportionate to the accuracy of that post. Your standard M.O. is to type a lot of words so that people get lost in the obfuscation. But that doesn't change the simple facts.

Again, I won't reiterate things here, my prior post stands unrefuted, IMNSHO.

p.s. Check out s-retire's thoughts on your post. I'm not the only one that thinks you are full of it.

This is where you went wrong…

You failed to confine your observations to those that directly support BMV’s statement. While many of us would easily consider your statements as interesting and of some merit, they do not support BMV’s premise and therefore are irrelevant. It is much easier for an individual to prove their point if you can confine the relevant observations only to those that support the opinion that is being promoted.

This is a practice that often serves some very successful radio talk show hosts, Howard Stern and Rush Limbaugh come to mind. They make millions of dollars and have large followings employing this technique.

Perhaps we should simply refer to this sub-thread as the BMW show…

Oh sure and drag me into it… I'm laughing as I'm typing.

Then why do you keep doing it???

<font color= gray>It doesn't make sense to rehash things, because you refuse to accept simple facts.</font>

    BS!

    1. As already stipulated, Favre's early career was great(!) -> No doubt he abused the Bearz, AFAIC.
    2. However, as the 'simple facts' reveal, his recent record against arch-rival Bearz, 2004-2007, is mediocre at best -> It's exceedingly difficult to see a Packer deity in this light, isn't it? :-O
    3. Overall -> He's a certain 1st ballet HOF'er, IME.

I've accepted all of these. Why are you afraid of #2?

<font color= gray>I'll just point out that the length of a post is not necessarily proportionate to the accuracy of that post. Your standard M.O. is to type a lot of words so that people get lost in the obfuscation. But that doesn't change the simple facts.</font>

Transference? Transposition? Trans______? Sorry, not sure which would be better. But, if had to, I'd pick the first one.

    <font color= gray>Again, I won't reiterate things here, my prior post stands unrefuted, IMNSHO.</font>

ROLFMAO! What are ya gonna say next, that Rusty's reply is credible?

If you don't have the capacity to realize that they've jumped on your bandwagon only because they also dislike me - Thank Goodness! - then, that's a limitation of yours. Like worshipping a false god, no?

That said, Rusty's English skills/vocabulary are far, far superior to mine...Perhaps he could weigh in on the transference/transposition/whatever topic.

    Is there a victim here?

It is wrong to claim that I don’t like you. I don’t even know you. For all I know you’re a great guy. You certainly deserve that from me at this point.

Occasionally, you make statements that I think are pretty goofy (my not so humble opinion) and you go to great lengths of doing a poor job of justifying those statements.

After seeing where this thread went, I’m glad you didn’t engage here in the Lounge on the autoworkers vs. auto industry decline debate.

No. But fine negotiation skills are!

First, let me say that I admire your concise & effective style of conversation.

    <font color= gray>Is there a victim here?</font>

Clever? Too clever? Too clever by a half? Or, Just clever?

    <font color= gray>It is wrong to claim that I don’t like you.</font>

    Philosophically, Yes & No.

    <font color= gray>I don’t even know you.</font>

And, I don't know you so, the answer might be, Yes.

<font color= gray>For all I know you’re a great guy. You certainly deserve that from me at this point.</font>

Oh, really? Given what you've said here, here, here, and here, did I *deserve* <i>"I'm laughing as I'm typing."</i>, and <i>"but.... it's hard to type clearly with tears in my eyes."</i>?

I trust you can appreciate my apparent confusion...

<font color= gray>Occasionally, you make statements that I think are pretty goofy (my not so humble opinion) and you go to great lengths of doing a poor job of justifying those statements.</font>

I do a poor job of justifying my 'goofy' statements, or you can't/won't justify why you think my statements are 'goofy'? No examples provided.

<font color= gray>After seeing where this thread went, I’m glad you didn’t engage here in the Lounge on the autoworkers vs. auto industry decline debate.</font>

As you may or may not recall, you did indeed attempt to do so. I declined.

Personally, I think it's unfortunate. I see a parallel among the Management-v-Union & Bearz-v-Packers issues --> The pendulum swings both ways. I respect both situations.

In the case of Mgmt.-v-Union, historically, unions were the direct byproduct of the abuses by mgmt. Sorry, I don't recall exactly what industries you mentioned, but I remember thinking the coal industry, sausage factories & the Pullman slums, during our argument. 2 out of 3, yeah? Mgmt. got what they deserved. Now, however, the pendulum has swung the other way and, IMO, the UAW will get what they deserve. Further, no amount of your pro-union propaganda is gonna alter things, essentially, IMO.

The same can basically be said of Brett Farve & Green Bay Packers...To our resident Cheesehead's chagrin.

Kinda like you've done when dealing with vital unions...

Since I honor the Bearz-v-Packers arch-rivalry [you really can't think of one w/o the other], I must respect star Packers like Brett Farve. The reality is that Favre hasn't been the HOF-caliber QB lately, as he had been throughout <u>much</u> of his early career. Thru the natural course of time, his skill set/success rate (against the Bearz), has diminished. It happens. Y/N?

As you object to anything negative said about of unions, e.g., their historically shared agenda/ties with/to organized crime, JTP(WI) is on the verge of tears, should anyone have the temerity to suggest that Brett Favre is human.

    That's just not so...

I think that's a given. And it doesn't stop there. $5 says I can kick your [Oops!] farther and with more accuracy than [pick your QB] can throw the long ball. And $50 says I'd enjoy doing it more than you'd enjoy receiving it! lol

    LOL! Classic!

<i>JTP(WI) is on the verge of tears, should anyone have the temerity to suggest that Brett Favre is human.</i>

Don't forget that <i>I'm</i> the one that came here and ripped on Favre. I don't have a problem with people doing that. I <i>do</i> have a problem with a Bears fan talking smack about a guy who made a career against them.

And with that, I'm done wasting my time on you. Yeah, folks, I probably should have let this go a lot longer. But as s-retire pointed out, discussions with bmv linger because he is unwilling to accept any reply that isn't entirely consistent with the point that he has decided to try to make. Sorry.

Look! I've said over & over again that Favre is a HOF'er...For his career achievements. But his performance against the Bearz, 2004-2007, was definitely not of HOF caliber.

    Deal with it.

You've broken this promise before, too. Remember? Then, you're so snotty, promising to no longer annoy me. Yet, this is the third or fourth time you've done exactly that.

    Re: Bears shirt,

    <font color= gray>maybe I need to find a Bears shirt to wear....</font>

Your call, of course, but I'd suggest some Cubbies apparel. Not necessarily this one, tho...

    ...For a coupla reasons:

    1. Da Bearz seem to be on a 20-year cycle, 1963 -> 1985 -> 2006 (close, but not really) -> 20?? So, not sure 'bout ongoing value. OTOH, "51" is timeless for football fans everywhere.

    2. The Cubbies are doing pretty well now, and doing it the right way (The Brewers got a little chippy towards the very end of being swept in a 4 game series recently). And, with Mark Cuban looming over the franchise, it's possibly now or never.

    I've always liked the "World Champions - 1908" T's.

Something in a Fukudome, perhaps? Despite recent offensive slump, I suspect still popular.

BTW, we went to AT&T Park to see the Giants host the Cubbies, last month. I saw a fan wearing a Fukudome jersey (#1) + one of those Japanese headbands.

PS. On the 23rd, are you planning to take I294 around Chicago, or I90 thru Chicago, to get to I65?
