SRS airbag light & seat belt warning lights reset?
Is there any way to reset the SRS airbag (passenger airbag) and seat belt buckle warning light is always on 02 745i witout bringing it to a car dealer? It's so annoying that they keep coming back even after the software upgrade. Anyone help please. Thx

Re: SRS airbag light & seat belt warning lights re
Hi
I had a run of the light coming on, tried carsoft, Bosch and could not reset it. In the end I changed out the drivers seat mat, and got the dealer to reset, since then it has been fine. The mat is available from real OEM and was $140 in the UK. I did it myself, and you have to take the seat apart, I didn't have to take the seat out like the dealer said I had to, took about three hours in all.
If you need any help, let me know. The dealer wanted $1000 to do the same job.

Re: SRS airbag light & seat belt warning lights re
I'm ready to take on the same job (replace the mat). Any tips or tricks would be appreciated. Also, How did you isolate the mat as the fault in the system? Logic tells me that since I sit on it over and over again, it's the most likely component in the system to fail. BUT it is a BMW after all.
Thanks!

Re: SRS airbag light & seat belt warning lights re
It is a fairly easy job, the dealer did a fault check and brought it up. I left the seat in the car and unpicked the leather using the TIS disk, I can send you the instructions. It is quite fiddly and you need to just take it carefully. Once you have all the leather of one side, the back and unbolted the front under thigh (I have sports seats), you unplug the mat from the plug underneath and ease out the mat. Once you have that done you need to plug in the new mat and replace everything. Once the mat was in the only person who could reset it was the dealer, we tried everything else including Bosch, carsoft etc. $50 at a dealer for the reset. I have not had problems since I changed it out. Interestingly the have recalled every other model for mat changes, except the 7.

Re: SRS airbag light & seat belt warning lights reset?
You jinxed me. My Passenger seat air bag light just came on in my 2002 7 series BMW workhorse.
Any place in the Tampa bay area, besides the expensive dealer?
My Range Rover was a simple push the connectors together that were poorly located under the seat.

Re: Find out what the fault is before tossing parts at
I suggest you call BMW NA. I received a letter indicating that there is an extended warranty for 10 years on the passenger airbag. I have the letter saved and can e-mail to you. Something about a warning.
Outside of this, it is probably the seat mat with the sensor that has been damaged in the bolster.
I had a situation where it was indicating the same thing & the seat mat on the drivers side was damaged and sensor went bad. $50 + Tax Under CPO Warranty.
I would find out as you are looking @ $500 to $1,000 to fix. Please send me a note if you wish to have the letter e-mailed (should of received it).

So, its the second week teh light of SRS airbag is blinking, some one told me if it shuted of for the third time there are more possibilities to open suddenly and hurt you.
if you please tell me is it true? if so, for how long it will blink to find some one professional for updating the code.
