Thanks for the link! Sure hope that Skip Barber>

will take the suggestion to rename Downhill "Newman's Own". PLN is such a class act! Just hope I can check out with as much dignity and humility.

AWESOME article, a must read IMHO.

Being relatively young, there has been much I did not know about Paul Newman. This article exposed much to me. I think I'll run out and buy some of his movies.

When I lived in New Haven, CT I worked at a race shop that I think is now defunct called Former Glory Racing. I have noe been able to locate the owner/driver Bob Kilpatrick for some years now. When I left in '03 he was still racing his MGB and his MG convertible in his 80's. I think he must have passed.

Anyway, I went to Lime Rock several times with him and his crew. I got to hear several stories of PLN and his racing hobby. Coming over to chat about racing, helping out beginning racers with a spare engine when they'd blow thiers, stopping by to lend a hand, and walking away when acting came up.

An incredible man. As has been said here and many other places, an example to live by and to aspire to.

    God blass and God Speed to Mr. Newman._ _ _ _ _ _ _

+1! I've been in the pits w/PLN at the ARRC when>

it was at RA. He always shunned attention and, as soon as the racing was over, he had a BUD in his hand. This article shows the many facets of his greatness.

A backhanded compliment from our boy Clayton!

If I wasn't so feckin' fat, I'd get off this couch and immediately model myself after Hugh Grant.

That's how I picture Clayton. Kinda feminine with a propensity for tweed jackets and ugly prostitutes.

    Cheers Mate!

Finally read that at home... nice piece.

I'll have to see if he ever went on "Inside the Actor's Studio", assuming Bravo still show that instead of Queer Eye and NBC reruns all day.
