    Cannot forward old emails

Charlie, all seems to be working well with the new GMAIL. I am very excited to keep my old email id. I am receiving new emails to the new GMAIL and spam has been greatly reduced of eliminated. The only problem I am having is forwarding my OLD emails. I tried as you suggested and created a test email in the old system and sent it to myself, it showed up in the old system but nothing in the new. I also tried forwarding several of the old emails, same thing, they showed up as new email in the old system.

    Any suggestions.

    Mario

Mario use the POP method, Mail Fetcher

    Mario,

    Here's a link to Google's help page:

    http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&ctx=mail&answer=21288

Login to your Roadfly Gmail account, click the "Settings" link, then click "Accounts" subtab, then see the section "Get mail from other accounts."

You can download from Roadfly Oldemail to Roadfly Gmail if you use the "get mail from other accounts" Mail Fetcher method. POP is enabled on your oldemail.

Re: Mario use the POP method, Mail Fetcher

Charlie, I have tried your suggestion. I can get to the "Settings" screen and I can click on the "Accounts" Tab, I then click on "Add another mail account". It then tells me to "Enter the email address of the account to get mail from" when I add my email "[email protected]" it tells me: "You cannot create a mail account for [email protected]"
Is this the correct email for my old roadfly email?

    Sorry use [email protected]

You're right I should have remembered to tell you that.

Instead of your email address use the IP address of the old eamil server. so use [email protected]

That should work. If it doesn't try using [email protected]

Keep me posted so I can alert others.

    Re: Sorry use [email protected]

Charlie, I tried both methods and both told me "There was a problem connecting to mail.oldemail.roadfly.com" and "Server returned error: "We were unable to locate the other domain. Please contact your other provider." I'm not sue but there may be a problem trying to connect through the firewall at my work station. I will try it at home over a DSL connection. and let you know.

    Not mail.oldemail.roadfly.com

Mario, the server's name is oldemail.roadfly.com not mail.oldemail.roadfly.com, FWIW.

You shouldn't have any problem w/ using the IP address but some mail software doesn't like that method. I would try the IP address method first as it's more likely to work.

    Keep me posted.

Charlie, the oldmail method worked for me. The IP method did not. Thank you for the help.
